This is the shape of the ring I hear from an old-fashioned telephone. It is also a chorus line doing a Can-Can. I know this because I just felt my leg kick up to join their troupe. The setting was the harbor in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts on the island of Martha's Vineyard.

I took "Fred and Ginger" for reasons of motion. And keep in mind that everything I photograph is moving -- the water is moving at all times including the night I was waiting for the ferry at Woods Hole, where I stood watching the lights on the water of another boat. I watched them shimmer and move until they became dancers. When I felt myself doing the tango with them, I snapped.

The evening I arrived in Amsterdam, I exclaimed with excitement when I spied my first canal. For to my surprise, I found a circle. Combined with its reflection, the lighted bridge created a golden circle just as the bridge I'd photographed years earlier in the United States had created with its reflection a "golden rectangle."

I took this photograph when I felt myself bending at the knee, exactly like the female figure I see in the image above. Her arms are both lifted and she looks to me as if she's about to usher in a change.
